Hi Seattle!

Printing in Seattle: posters, yard signs and banners, inside the city's posting rules

Print for every pole and porch from Ballard to Beacon Hill.

Posters, yard signs, stickers and banners, checked by Voqado, printed by vetted U.S. production partners and shipped to your door anywhere in the city.

Unlike New York, Los Angeles, Houston or Boston, Seattle lets a poster go up on a City owned utility pole, as long as it follows the city's rules. Voqado is an online printing company, a family business since 2020, shipping to every Seattle ZIP. We have no Seattle storefront or pickup, so this page brings what matters: the pole and planting strip rules, wet season material choices, and a convention date to plan for.

Voqado is an online printing company. Voqado designs, checks and ships every order, and the printing is done by vetted U.S. production partners. Orders for Seattle are shipped to the address you give us.

Posters on poles, within SDOT's limits

Seattle code allows handbills, signs and posters on City owned utility poles, lamp poles and traffic control devices under the Seattle Department of Transportation, but not on freestanding stop or yield signs or their posts. Posting follows rules from the Director of Transportation on time, place and manner, at a height of no more than twelve feet. Check SDOT's current rule before you print, and size your posters to it. Anywhere else on City structures or trees, posting is unlawful.

Yard signs in planting strips

Seattle code limits signs in the planting strip in front of private property to noncommercial messages placed with the occupant's consent, plus open house signs. They may not exceed 8 square feet, stand more than 36 inches tall, or more than 24 inches tall within 30 feet of an intersection, and stakes may go no deeper than one foot. Business advertising may use planting strips only in business districts, under the city's public works rule, so put a business yard sign on private property with the occupant's consent instead.

Choosing a yard sign size that fits

Our yard signs come in 19 sizes, so a planting strip sign can stay comfortably under the 8 square foot limit. Remember that the stand adds height: measure from the ground to the top of the sign, not just the panel, especially near corners where the limit drops to 24 inches.

Print for the wet season

Seattle's wetter season runs from about October 10 to the end of April, by the long term averages Weather Spark publishes. For anything outside in those months, skip paper. Our outdoor posters use a tear and water resistant material, yard signs are corrugated plastic, and plastic sticker singles are waterproof and UV resistant.

PAX West weekend

PAX West is scheduled for September 3 to 6, 2027 at the Seattle Convention Center's Arch and Summit buildings. Exhibitors and nearby businesses planning around it should order banners, stickers and cards by early August.

Questions

Printing for Seattle, answered

Can I put posters on telephone poles in Seattle?

On City owned utility poles, lamp poles and most traffic sign posts, yes, under SDOT's rules on time, place and manner of posting. Not on stop or yield signs or their posts. Check SDOT's current rule before you post. This is a summary, not legal advice.

Can a business yard sign go in a Seattle planting strip?

Only in business districts, under the city's public works rule. Elsewhere the code allows noncommercial signs in the planting strip, with the occupant's consent, at 36 inches tall or less, 24 inches within 30 feet of an intersection, and 8 square feet or less. This is a summary, not legal advice.

How long does delivery to Seattle take?

Standard delivery arrives as soon as 6 business days from your order, production included, counted from when we receive your artwork. The cart shows an arrival date for each item before you pay, worked out from the product and quantity, not from the ZIP.

Do you have a Seattle pickup location?

No. Voqado is online only, with no Seattle location, so every order ships to you.

Which posters hold up in Seattle rain?

Our outdoor posters use a tear and water resistant material, the best fit we sell for a pole. On an exposed spot, check them after heavy rain and replace any that look tired.
